As part of its ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care, Portsmouth Regional Hospital is pleased to announce the arrival of the 3 Tesla High Resolution MRI System. MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a non-invasive procedure used to visualize the structure and function of the body, relying on a magnetic field to produce detailed images. The 3-T MRI system offers substantial benefits for patients: including more open space which reduces anxiety; and reduced exam times.
With high resolution MRI, the radiologist can see patients’ anatomic structures in far greater detail than with conventional MRI at lower magnetic field strengths - allowing for a more precise and definitive diagnosis and in many patients earlier disease detection.
The 3T MRI can assist with a wide range of medical problems including:
- Orthopedic-especially small joints such as those of the wrist, elbow, hand and foot
