ICU Patient & Visitor Information
ICU Patient & Visitor Information
Visiting Your Loved One
Visiting hours are flexible according to the patient’s needs and condition. Therefore, visitors may be asked to leave as requested by the staff. Due to shift changes, we ask that you not visit or call into the ICU between 6:30 –8:00 AM and 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Please limit visitors to two at a time. We also ask that you call before entering the ICU by using the telephone located outside the door. No flowers or balloons please. Cards are welcome.
Please send clothes and valuables, including money and jewelry, home with the family as there is no adequate storage space, and we cannot be responsible for these items.
Communicating With ICU Staff
No call updates will be given during shift changes: 6:30 – 8:00 AM and 6:30 – 8:00 PM. Your cooperation is vital so that patient care can be completed and information relayed to the next shift. We want to be able to take care of your loved one without interruption. You will need a Patient Information Code provided by the ICU staff in order to get information about your loved one. Please designate ONE person to be the spokesperson to receive and relay patient information to other family members and friends. Please leave that person’s name and telephone number with staff. We are required by law to maintain the privacy of our patients’ health information, and provide you with a copy of our privacy practices.
Taking Care Of Yourself
We will encourage you and other family members to go home. Family members need to take a break, and alleviate the stress they themselves are experiencing. Beepers are available from the ICU if families need to leave. The best thing you can do for your loved one is to stay rested and healthy.
Clergy
There are clergy members representing all denominations on call at all times for patients and family. Please ask ICU staff to contact them if desired.
The Chapel
Our chapel is located just outside of the doors of the ICU. It is a peaceful, welcoming space for private reflection.
Family Room
The Family Room is located just outside the ICU, next to the Chapel. The Family Room has a small kitchen, chairs that can be folded out into beds, and telephones for private conversations.
