Non-Surgical Vascular Treatment

Non-Surgical Vascular Treatment

Vascular health can often be improved through exercise, smoking cessation, weight loss and certain medications.

Some vascular problems, including the removal of arterial or venous blood clots, can be treated by our Radiology Department using some remarkable, minimally invasive interventional radiology techniques. These techniques are particularly valuable in the emergency treatment of an acute stroke caused by a blood clot:

Thrombolytic therapy uses clot-dissolving medications to break up dangerous clots inside a blood vessel.

Endovascular embolectomy involves the removal of an arterial blood clot using a catheter based instrument guided by the radiologist.
