Psychiatric Assessment and Referral Services (PARS)
We’re here to help…
24 hours a day,
Seven days a week
Psychiatric Assessment and Referral Service (PARS) has a simple yet vital mission: to connect individuals and families with the right level of care for an emotional or behavioral problem - whether it is our inpatient unit for patients in crisis or appropriate services in the community.
- Anyone experiencing emotional and/or behavioral difficulties may call the PARS office and speak with a clinician.
- Interviews are conducted by phone or in person, depending on the situation.
- Family members and outpatient treatment providers (with the individual's permission) may help determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
- Depending on the situation, individuals in acute crisis may be:
- Admitted to our behavioral health unit or referred to another hospital program, outpatient healthcare provider, community resource, or support group.
PARS includes a team of therapists dedicated to all of the hospital's inpatient units for interventions, assessments and referrals. The team addresses the needs of patients with known psychiatric illness and/or substance dependence. The team also provides assessment education and referral to patients who may be experiencing distress, anxiety or depression related to their medical condition, or any other pyschologically-related social stress.
The mental health clinicians work closely with physicians, case managers and rehab specialists to provide the most appropriate mental health care at discharge.
