Pediatric Neuroscience Rehabilitation
Pediatric Neuroscience Rehabilitation
Pediatric CATCH – for Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment for Children – is a rehabilitation program designed to help children with disabilities and their families to maximize their developmental and functional life skills.
The program focuses on such skills as:
- Movement and Mobility.
- Eye-Hand Skills.
- Sensory Processing.
- Cognitive Learning Skills.
- Communication Skills.
- Self Help Performance Such as Dressing and Feeding Skills.
When one or more of these skill areas is impaired, a child’s level of independence and ability to interact with his or her environment can be impacted.
A referral is required from a pediatrician, specialist physician (such as a neurologist) or a nurse practitioner.

Our pediatric rehabilitation specialists have training and certification in the treatment of the following disorders:

- Neurodevelopmental Treatment.
- Autism Pervasive Developmental Delay.
- Sensory Integration/Processing.
- Sensory Integration Praxis Test Certification.

- Apraxia of Speech.
- Voice Disorders.
- Stuttering/Dysfluency.

Assessment Phase
The first step in rehabilitation is assessment of each patient’s needs. An individualized evaluation may include but not be limited to:
- Medical History.
- Parent/Caregiver Interviews.
- Clinical Observations.
- Community-Based Observations.
- Computerized Dynamic Posturography.
- Clinical Evaluations.
- Non-Standardized Testing Tools (Sensitive to a Child’s Improvement Within Their Own Baseline).
- Standardized Testing Tools (Comparing a Child’s Performance to Those of Similar-Aged Peers).
Treatment Phase
Depending upon evaluation findings, recommendations can be made for. Individualized rehabilitation plan may include:
- Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech and LanguageTherapy.
- Balance Retraining.
- Visual Motor Retraining.
- Aquatic Therapy.
- Equipment Consultations.
- Postural Education.
- Coordination/Motor Planning Training.
- Community-Based Consultations.
- Sensory Processing/Integration Treatment.
- Parent Education.
Rehabilitation is a team effort and we coordinate our treatment with your child’s pediatrician to ensure continuity of care and communication.
In conjunction with your primary care pediatrician, referrals may be made to other clinicians, such as Ear Nose and Throat, Ophthalmology/Optometry, Audiology or Neuropsychology. With the family’s request and permission, we also collaborate with other professionals, such as medical specialists and educational personnel involved in the care of your child for best results.
