Lifestyle Changes to Manage Uterine Fibroids

In many cases, uterine fibroids are followed and watched. This is particularly true for older women. If you choose to have treatment, your treatment options will depend on your symptoms and age.
One of the most common symptoms of uterine fibroids is increased menstrual bleeding. If a fibroid is causing the increased bleeding, your doctor may do a pelvic exam and order an ultrasound. In addition, your doctor may recommend dietary changes, like increasing iron , folate , and vitamin B12 , to help prevent anemia due to blood loss.
