The February 2012, Portsmouth Regional Hospital "Mended Hearts" program is set for Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in the hospital's classrooms from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The title of the presentation is "ECMO-Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation". ECMO is used for the management of life threatening pulmonary or cardiac failure. Learn more about this advanced technology during coronary artery bypass surgery. The program will be presented by Cardiac Perfusionist, Kevin McCusker CCP. A question and answer session will follow with Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Donato Sisto MD, FACC, FACS.

The support group begins following the speaker at 6:45 and runs to 7:45 p.m. Participants of the support group develop insight and understanding about their heart disease, techniques for supporting loved ones - and above all hope for the future. Participants find comfort, develop commitment to heart healthy behaviors and motivation to live and thrive by learning from the experiences of others with the same problems and challenges.
