HCA New England Healthcare, supported by HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, has announced a $45,000 investment to Granite United Way to expand crisis training for first responders and support mental health and other important programs statewide.
Granite United Way will work in partnership with Regional Public Health Networks (RPHNs), nonprofit partners and community leaders to utilize the funding to focus on three key areas: expanding access to evidence-based crisis intervention training for first responders; broadening access to mental health education; and strengthening community safety.
“This grant will go a long way toward helping us expand access to important programs such as training first responders with the skills to de-escalate crises, reducing the stigma of mental health needs, connecting individuals to mental health resources, and other basic needs that foster safer outcomes in our communities,” said Nichole Reimer, president and CEO of Granite United Way. “It will also allow us to improve access to crisis intervention training across the Granite State, building a network of skilled professionals equipped to support individuals in distress. We truly appreciate this funding and look forward to further partnering with HCA Healthcare.”
The grant is part of the HCA Healthcare Foundation’s Healthier Tomorrow Fund, a $75 million community impact fund supporting innovative initiatives focused on addressing high-priority community needs and health equity. The funding will direct $25,000 to enhancing crisis response and mental health programs, with the additional $20,000 being used to address food insecurity and housing issues across the region.
“Granite United Way is a trusted community leader with the ability to convene stakeholders to effectively address these complex issues,” said Brian Sanders, MD, chief medical officer for the Seacoast Market of HCA New England Healthcare. “We are excited to partner with Granite United Way to invest in local agencies and programs across the Seacoast and Southern New Hampshire to help improve the health of all in our communities.”
