Portsmouth Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, has opened a new hybrid cardiovascular operating room, allowing for a seamless transition between minimally invasive surgery, catheter-based interventions and more complex surgery. This capability is particularly beneficial for procedures such as endovascular aortic repair (EVAR), thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and complex peripheral vascular interventions.
“This type of operating room allows us to provide the most advanced cardiovascular treatment options, where a combination of open and endovascular surgery may be utilized to give the patient the best outcome,” said Dr. Syed Peeran, chief of the department of surgery and director of vascular surgery at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. “While this isn’t our first hybrid operating room, this advanced suite underscores Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s leadership in cardiothoracic and vascular surgical care.”
