Portsmouth Regional Hospital, May 5, 2017 - Portsmouth Regional Hospital today announced that Moby Parsons, MD, FRSCS, has joined the hospital’s team of orthopedic surgeons dedicated to quality care for patients with both degenerative and traumatic problems. Dr. Parsons is one of the nation’s most experienced surgeons in joint implant procedures including use of fully customized ConforMIS implants in total and partial knee replacement.
Treatment with fully customized knee implants represents revolutionary advancement in knee replacement. Using advanced imaging data, ConforMIS is able to generate a three-dimensional model of each patient’s knee and to map the joint surfaces and leg alignment precisely. This information can then be used to design a patient-specific implant that recreates each individual’s unique anatomy. Using 3-D printing techniques, ConforMIS also generates custom instrumentation to ensure the implant is optimally placed to replicate normal joint function.
In multiple recent clinical studies, patients treated with fully customized knee implants have reported higher satisfaction rates with fuller range of motion, a more natural feel and less pain compared to patients treated with traditional off-the-shelf knee implants that are available in a limited range of sizes.
“We are thrilled that Dr. Parsons has joined our orthopedic specialists at Portsmouth Regional Hospital. His breadth of experience and success with ConforMIS knee replacement technology is impressive. With Dr. Parsons’ addition to our orthopedic team, Portsmouth is positioned to provide the most comprehensive orthopedic surgical care to the Seacoast community,” stated Dean Carucci, CEO of Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Dr. Parsons received his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed his residency at University of Pittsburgh, and went on to acquire specialty shoulder and elbow surgery training at the University of Washington in Seattle and the University of Sydney in Australia. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Parsons has treated more than 160 patients using partial and total customized knee implants since he first started using the technology two years ago.
