Partnering with patients, family members and caregivers to continually improve the patient experience

At Portsmouth Regional Hospital, we strive to provide high-quality care, from simple to complex, in a calm and comfortable environment with the goal of providing exceptional experiences for all patients and their loved ones.

To reach and maintain that goal, we need the help of our patients and their families. The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)  is a small group of volunteers who will work together alongside hospital leadership to address issues facing our patients so that we can learn first-hand how different situations impact the patient experience.

The PFAC will meet quarterly at the hospital to discuss issues that have been brought to the attention of our nurses, providers and ancillary staff, administrators and other colleagues to develop solutions and measurable action plans. They will provide valuable insight, ideas and opinions to help us improve our care delivery, and your care experience.

About the Council

The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) at Portsmouth Regional Hospital was developed to gain insight, opinions and ideas from those we serve to help us improve patient care and the overall experience for patients and their loved ones.

These advisors play a pivotal role in helping hospital leaders enhance programs and services at our facilities.

PFAC members will:

  • Represent the needs and interests of our patients and their families.
  • Be expected to share insights and experience in productive ways, and be able to see the bigger picture beyond their own experience.
  • Provide hospital leadership with ideas and insight to help us continually improve care and the patient experience.
  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly meetings (approximately 2 hours) for a term of 2 years.
  • Dedicate additional time outside of meetings for initiatives and projects and to serve as an ambassador for the hospital.
  • Attend PFAC orientation.

About our members:

  • They will respect diversity and differing opinions.
  • They are strong collaborators.
  • They care about improving healthcare for others.
