Classes & Events

Whether you want to learn first aid, prepare for a new addition to your family, get fit, help prevent or rehabilitate from injury, return to activities after surgery or just enjoy a new approach to life, we're here for you.

Fitness and Exercise Classes

Just a few of our fee-based fitness and exercise classes include:

  • No Bones About It For Those Who Work and No Bones About It For Those With Diagnosed Osteoporosis – Resistance exercise classes focused on postural stability and flexibility
  • Fit to the Core and Core Basics – Pilates-based classes with exercises to strengthen core muscles, promote flexibility through posture, coordinate breathing with movement; may incorporate "friendly" spine and neck exercises
  • Balance It Out – Gentle T'ai Chi sequences and rehabilitation exercises to promote balance and strength in the lower extremities
  • Zumba – High-energy, moderate- to fast-paced dance fitness routines set to Latino and international rhythms; may be too strenuous for anyone with lower extremity conditions affected by pivoting and weight shifting
  • Healthy Steps – Focused on health through movement and dance; therapeutic exercise and movement program for those diagnosed with cancer, those who received or are receiving radiation/chemotherapy treatments or those with lymphedema, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and other conditions
  • Sit & Get Fit – Exercise programs in a supervised environment with health-minded instructors; for those with existing health conditions such as back pain, joint replacements or the need to return to function following injury, illness or surgery

Cost and Location for Fitness/Exercise Classes

Purchase a $60 card for access to 10 "open" class sessions that may be taken in any order. Pay by cash or check. Your 11th class is free, and you can renew your participation at any time. Classes are held in the West building at 155 Borthwick Ave., just down the street from Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Download, print and complete our registration/medical history/waiver of liability form and bring it with payment to your first class. You'll sign in at each class you attend, so you're sure to get proper credit for your purchase.
